Weight Loss Strategies

You are ready to shed those extra pounds and keep them off? The good news is that it is possible!  The first step is your decision to take control and stay committed.

The following strategies can be life changing in your quest to achieve and maintain your weight loss goals.

1) You must put yourself into the right mindset.

Attitude is everything. Visualize living a new lifestyle that includes a behavior conducive to positive changes in your health and fitness levels. You transition into this new lifestyle by making adjustments to your daily habits until these habits are in alignment with the goals you are aiming for.

2) Find an exercise partner & accountability partner.

An exercise partner is a tremendous source of support. A partner is crucial on those days when you really don't like exercising. With an exercise partner comes the element of accountability and motivation.

3) Get off the couch - get a new hobby.

A new fitness related hobby or activity will get you off the couch and out of the house.  If you've ever wanted to play basketball, ride a bike, swim or any other physical activity - go ahead and take it on!

5) Drink more water.

Water plays an important role in weight loss. Water contains zero calories, has no fat, no cholesterol, and is low in sodium; therefore, it appeals to those wanting to lose weight. Water is also an appetite suppressant. The more water you drink, the less of an appetite you will develop.

Water consumption helps metabolize stored fat. In order to do so however, the kidneys must receive a sufficient amount of water. If the kidneys are not receiving enough water, they will end up relying on the liver for help. When the liver is working on its' own, it breaks down fat and distributes it as energy to different parts of the body. However, if the kidneys are not getting enough water, and need to rely on the liver, the liver no longer breaks down fats in the body. When the liver is overloaded like this, it causes it to store fat in the body instead of breaking it down. By consuming water, the liver will continue to metabolize fat instead of storing it in the body.
